Template Fun with Marina Del Rey

Hi All! It's Build Your Own Collab (BYOC) time at The Lilypad again (it happens the first Friday of every month). Lynn has 3 WONDERFUL kits in the sale: Marina Del Rey Elements, Marina Del Rey Papers and Marina Del Rey Templates.

I thought it would be fun to see how Lynn's CT played with the Marina Del Rey Templates (and the rest of the Marina Del Rey kits, of course).

The beauty of templates is the structure they give you as you manipulate the look of the page with the choices of papers and elements you make to reflect the vision you have for your memory or the story you want to tell. I love how you can even modify them to further meet your vision.

First we have Sandy aka wvsandy with her layout, "Wonderful". She did some double blending with her gorgeous photo and left the rest of the template basically as is. Her papers and colors give the whole page a soft, feminine feel.

Sondra aka Rosemarythyme used the same template but changed it up by eliminating the graphic detail in the corner of her layout also titled "Wonderful". The bold yellow paper strip gives the page a totally different feel. The elements and soft greens compliment the soothing and relaxing feel of her photo.

In the layout "Wonderful Karnak", Jane aka janedee used some elements in the lower corners to reflect the trees in her fabulous photo. She used only a couple of pattern papers in the background masks making the photo the center star. I almost feel like I'm there!

Donna aka djp322 used a large photo to fill up the background masks and the photo spot letting the frame bring our attention to the focal point on the beach. She used a bit of woodgrain and pattern paper to add texture to the design. Wonderful page!!

Now for the two photo template, we have Carol aka Iowan with her layout "Good Times At Volunteer Park Conservatory 2016". Carol used a background paper in lieu of the double mask and graphic detail on the left and filled in the space with her spectacular clusters. I love how everything in the layout leads us to the beautiful eyes of her grandchildren.

Lorry aka lorryfach swapped out the background masks for a highly textured background paper in her layout titled "Delight". She kept the graphic detail but blended it into the background like a stamp. The bold yellow frame really sets off her photos.

Judy aka chigirl basically kept the template intact but added a blended transfer to cover part of the graphic detail. The soft, muted colors and patterns allow her photos to stand out and tell the story of their visit to the Safari Park. I haven't been there, but now I wish I could!

In our last sample, I (Diane) changed up the template by rotating it to the left and used a large photo for two of the background masks. I painted out the ribbon detail in one of the masks so it wouldn't show up in the photo. I recolored the graphic detail so it would recede a bit into the background. Lynn's patterned papers really compliment the color of the water.

I hope these samples have inspired you to use a template for your next scrapbooking page. Be sure to hop over to the Lilypad to pick up Lynn's template kit while it is on sale along with the rest of the Marina Del Rey kits. Check out Lynn's gallery to see more ways to use her AUGUST BYOC. Each sample above is linked to her gallery.

Happy scrapping!
