Hard to believe it is so long since we went on this weekend away up the coast.
We stayed at a rented holiday cottage - known here in New Zealand as a 'bach'.
(Funnily enough, no-one really knows why. One theory is that it is that people used to liken going away to the rough and ready beachside cottage to living like a bachelor. But that's just one theory!) This one was as shabby as they come, but it had the most comfortable bed (a godsend since I was hit by a migraine on the drive there) and was perched right above the estuary with wonderful views.
